Born February 15, 1975, Joe would become a race fan at an early age.
"I can remember, as a toddler, running around the pits at the drag strip while my dad was out there ripping down the track, or while he was wrenching on a dirt car. My dad was always involved in some sort of racing when I was younger, whether it was drag racing at the strip or helping at the dirt track. Even my mom made a few passes down the strip."

Joe's father would eventually get involved in go-kart racing, that would lead to his first go-kart when he was seven years old.
" When I was younger. I couldn't wait to go to the go-kart races. We raced them on and off until I was 14."

After getting his driver's license, Joe would get a motorcycle and found his way back to the  US 13 drag strip.
" I got a sport bike, and a friend of mine told me bring it down to the track. I got hooked on going fast and getting there quickly. I won a lot of races on the quarter mile both on my bike and in my car, but I guess I got bored going in a straight line."

This is when he made his way back over to clay oval at Delaware International Speedway in Delmar, De. Joe first stepped into a modified-lite. This is a 5/8 scale northeast dirt modified powered by a motorcycle engine.
" Those mod-lites were a blast to drive. They were probably one of the most fun cars I have ever driven, because of their short wheelbase and their high power-to-weight ratio. I think that they make people better drivers."

The mod-lites would lead him to the full bodied crate-late models. After racing the mod-lites for several years, Joe would move into the street-modified division for the inaugural year of the crate-late models at DIS, and win the championship in his rookie season.
" I was definitely apprehensive about moving up to the full size cars, but I definitely made the right move. I had a great year with five wins and the championship. My step dad became more involved, and with the support of my wife and all of my parents, it made it that much more enjoyable."

Joe would follow up his rookie season with a solid sophomore season as well. He totaled six victories and finished fourth in the points. He is looking forward to his third year in the crates, but would love a shot at driving a super late model if the right deal came along.
" I am content driving my crate car, but I would certainly jump at the chance to drive a super!"
